The name Rudolph refers to Rudolf Michael Schindler, a figure of American modernism. But the most direct inspiration, Van Duysen says, was “the sofa in my house in Portugal, because of its proportions.” Designed for Serax and made to measure in Belgium, the sofa pairs an aluminium frame clad in solid oak with a bespoke Belgian fabric in Chalk.
